PROJECTS
WILDFIRE RISK & MANAGEMENT
It is no surprise that wildfire risks are becoming more of an issue across New York State. Through some of our initial research and scoping work we recognize the need for a more localized and comprehensive program to address these risks, and to create an expert and community driven action plan for management and mitigation.
PANTHER CREEK
The Panther Creek-shed Community project is focused on addressing issues along the Panther Creek in West Fulton - including erosion and Ash tree mortality.
Though the focus of this project is Panther Creek - it will serve as a model for other tributaries and creek-sheds that feed into the Schoharie Creek.
COMMUNITY LISTEN & LEARN SESSIONS
Bioregionalism is all about community connection, input and action. We have started hosting Listening & Learning sessions to create space for community to come together to help identify how we define our bioregion, the strengths and needs of our bioregion, and projects as we move forward in this work.
PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS
An important element of bioregionalism is partnerships. The Waterfall Center is dedicated to creating partnerships with other local organizations, businesses, and municipal resources and governments to create workshops, learning opportunities and projects that benefit the bioregion and all life in it. Click the button to learn more about some of the partnerships and project we have begun to foster.
BIODIVERSITY & CONSERVATION
The Waterfall Center recognizes the current risks faced by pollinators in a changing climate, and what that can mean for our biodiversity, food systems and also human health. We are exploring projects around creating pollinator gardens and corridors as well as educational and engagement opportunities within the bioregion.
