Panther Creek Community Presentation

Updated: Jul 23

ree

On May 18th, the Waterfall Center held a presentation to kick off a project specifically along and with the community of the Panther Creekshed. This first session began with a presentation by Nate Hudson, a resident along Panther Creek and an invasive species and forestry expert. Nate presented the community with a brief summary of some of the issues and mitigation strategies along the creek including erosion and Ash tree mortality, caused by the Emerald Ash Borer and how tree mortality can also contribute to wildfire risks.

We are working to create a management plan for the Panther Creek, that will not just serve this creekshed, but also as a model for other creeksheds and tributaries that contribute to the greater Schoharie Creek and it's surrounding communities within the bioregion.
